Arrival In Dublin

Upon arriving at the Dublin airport we are greeted by the sun!!! After collecting our Dublin Pass and Hop On Hop of Bus 2 day ticket, we head out to catch the Dublin Bus into Dublin.  It costs 10.50 Euro for TWO VS a $35-40.00 Euro for a taxi. The bus takes us to Heuston Railway Station.  We walk the 10 minutes to our hotel,The Kilmainham Hilton, dragging our suitcases behind us. Ordinarily I don’t stay in an American chain, but since I could use Hilton points, it seemed the smart way to go. We will be here for three nights.
Our hotel room is quite large with twin beds a desk/entertainment center, easy chair, large closet and large bathroom.  The beds are made with white linens and duvees which get washed after each guest - the new way to make beds in hotels.  No more nasty bedspreads.
After settling in we decide to go geo caching.  Catherine is really into it and wants to put Ireland on her list of places. Geo-Caching is a world wide activity.  People hide objects, then post the GPS coordinates on the internet at www.geocache.com along with clues, difficulty, etc.  When others find the cache, they leave a note or do whatever the note in the geo-cache says and then post the find on that same website.  They even have spots in Luxor, Egypt!
There are 500+ geo-cache site in Ireland!! She has to narrow it down to spots in Dublin.  She finds one just down the street so off we go. By now it is getting dark and cold. She finds the spot, but it seems to be on the grounds of a Buddhist Meditation Center. We sneak in under the cover of darkness and try to find the cache in amongst the trees to no avail. We decide we will leave it for tomorrow.
The hotel is by the Irish Museum of Modern Art which is situated in a beautiful park like setting.  The museum is closed but the grounds remain open until 18:30.  We stroll down the long entry way to the museum. It has been a long flight and we want to limber up by taking a walk.
Pasted on a lamp post we discover an Occupy Dame Street flyer announcing the occupation of Dame Street on October 15.  It appears that the "Occupy" movement is also taking place here. The whole corporate/government greed thing is not sitting well around the world.  We even have an Occupy Bend in progress. Interesting, very interesting :-)
Upon returning to the hotel I decide to stop in the bar for a Guinness. It tastes so much better here in Ireland.  I’m told its the water used here that makes it so good.
Until tomorrow.......
